This CD was recorded over the Winter of 06 /07, mostly in Jon Sharpe's odd-shaped living/dining room with big inglenook fireplace. We set up the 3 musos (guitar/vox, piano/vox and double bass/vox)as a triangle, six feet apart and looking at each–other, with vocal mics and guitar and bass mics, DIs and midi all in place. Nary a pop–sheild (or headphones) to spoil the intimate vibe. This was really nice for performing great takes in an acoustic environment. We then comped the best takes. A couple of the songs were not edited at all, and some only had a small edit. There were some overdubs of vocals and extra guitars from Kevin Teal
Mics used were GT 33/TF27 vox and guitar, GT33 for bass vocal and vocal ODs, as well as CAD M 179s and a C 1000The mic pres are the transformer ones in my Alice desk, connected to my FireFace 800 audio/midi interface ... and thence via Firewire to my iMac and Logic Pro 7.2.3
The editing, mixing and mastering were all done in Logic, with reverb by Altiverb and some EQ from Tritone
